Theory of advanced, direct, and indirect energy conversion systems. Thermodynamic cycle optimization methods. Irreversible thermodynamics as applied to steady state energy conversion systems. Direct energy conversion systems include MHD, fuel cells, thermoelectric, thermionic, and other current systems. Prerequisite: M&I-Eng 601 or equivalent. Mr. McGowan

Tropical Field Biology

Introduction to the ecology, behavior, taxonomy, and physiology of tropical organisms, with emphasis on close observation of living organisms in nature. Includes hands-on investigation of coastal and marine ecosystems. Students will participate in a field trip to Costa Rica during the Spring Break. Satisfies the Integrative Experience for BS-Biol majors.
