This course will focus on the immediacy of the art of the monotype, a cross over discipline that combines skills of Drawing and painting with printmaking.

Studio, workshop. The creative print-making process of cutting and printing the raised surfaces of a block. Cutting and printing from various materials including wood, lucite, plaster, masonite, box wood and linoleum. Collograph included. Self-motivated workshop situation. Visual ideas and executions (design and drawings) stressed. Final portfolio required, attendance mandatory. Prerequisite: basic drawing and design, or consent of instructor. $35 materials fee.

This studio course explores the creative possibilities of code-based art. Students explore interactive artwork using both analog and digital processes; learn computer programming fundamentals in an arts context; and gain an understanding of procedural, generative, and algorithmic logic as seen within a range of art and design practices. Lectures, discussions, and demonstrations provide a conceptual, aesthetic and technical foundation in code-based art as a creative practice.

Foundation Studio is a course designed to introduce students to the materials, techniques, language, concepts and process of making, using and thinking/talking about Art. Unlike many other art courses, Foundations is an experience where learning comes not only from the projects and their results but also from the interaction among the entire group of students. Your actions, opinions, and participation, and those of your fellow students, are an important part of your art experience and learning.
