S-Latin Am Political Thought

This course is an advanced examination of some of the most influential thinkers and works in the tradition of Latin American political thought from the colonial period to the present. At the heart of our inquiry is an investigation of Latin America as a site of critique and decolonial praxis. Latin America's place in relation to the US and Europe - defined by relations of colonialism, domination, and exploitation - has also yielded a distinctive mode of critique.

Systems for Deep Learning

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of computer systems architecture that supports deep learning workloads. It assumes students have prior knowledge on computer systems, algorithms, and Python/C/C++ programming background. In the course, we will study the full-stack system design to support deep learning, covering topics from the high-level programming frameworks to low-level kernel implementations. We will also introduce cutting-edge research on efficient and scalable deep learning model training, inference, and serving.

Honors Thesis

Honors Thesis expectations are high. The intended end-product is a traditional research manuscript with accompanying artifact(s), all theses: - are 6 credits or more of sustained research on a single topic, typically conducted over two semesters. - begin with creative inquiry and systematic research. - include documentation of substantive scholarly endeavor. - culminate in an oral defense or other form of public presentation.

Honors Project

E&C ENG 499P is Part 2 of the senior honors project in ECE, preceded in the fall by Part 1 (E&C ENG 499Y). Individual student research is directly contracted with the faculty chairs who supervise the work. In addition, all 499T and 499P students participate in a common thesis/project seminar that supports development of the 499P project work and documentation. Honors Project expectations are high.
