S- Qualitative Methods

This course covers key issues in the study and practice of qualitative methods. After discussing various "meta-issues" regarding the nature of qualitative methods research, the course covers the ideal-typical and practical use of specific qualitative methods such as case-study analysis, interviewing, historical research, ethnography, and discourse analysis. Examples come from social science research and speak directly to the development of qualitative methods within political science.

British Mandate for Palestine

For centuries, Jews living in the Diaspora have longed for a return to the Holy Land. This course examines the efforts of the Zionist movement to create a Jewish state in Palestine from the late nineteenth century through May 1948. This course begins with an in depth look at the ideological origins of Zionism as an attempt to create a refuge for Jews fleeing persecution. Central to this effort was the emergence of a new Hebrew or Israeli identity, which saw itself as distinct from Jewish life in Europe.

The Iron Wall: Arab-Israel

This course examines the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict, beginning with the roots of the conflict during the British Mandate for Palestine through Israel?s wars with neighboring Arab states from 1948 through 1973. Under the Mandate, from 1917 through early 1948, Palestine's Arab and Jewish communities repeatedly clashed for control over the land, culminating in the Palestine Civil War in the spring of 1948. Following the creation of the state in 1948, Israel fought repeated wars with neighboring Arab states in 1956, 1967, and 1973.

AI Law and Policy

This course explores contemporary legal issues and emerging trends related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, catering specifically to computer science students. The curriculum covers a wide spectrum of legal subjects, aligned with core legal topics, such as criminal law, contracts, torts, constitutional law, property law, professional responsibility, and ethics.

Catalan Culture

This course is an overview of the Catalan Culture including the most important and influential aspects: history, territorial organization, language, festivities and traditions, gastronomy, and artistic expressions. Through this course, students will be able to discover a rich, unique, and interesting culture that will widen your perception and knowledge of Peninsular cultures.
