Literature and Migration

Focusing on a variety of literary genres this course will explore aesthetic representations of and engagements with migration, as well as texts born of migration. In addition to primary sources, course materials include scholarship on the labeling, classification and positioning of these texts, their public-political interventions and literary (re)conceptualizations of home, belonging, refuge, citizenship, exile, and migration. Foundation Studio 2

Foundation Studio is a course designed to introduce students to the materials, techniques, language, concepts and process of making, using and thinking/talking about Art. Unlike many other art courses, Foundations is an experience where learning comes not only from the projects and their results but also from the interaction among the entire group of students. Your actions, opinions, and participation, and those of your fellow students, are an important part of your art experience and learning.

The 10-Minute Talk

This course will engage students in preparing and practicing a short scientific talk based on their work. The emphasis will be on strategies for delivery of clear and impactful language and best use of visual aids to enhance the audience?s experience.

Advanced Italian Conversation

This course is designed to help advanced Italian students maintain their level of spoken language while at the same time further their knowledge of contemporary Italian society and culture. It enables students to express themselves with an advanced degree of fluency and proficiency as well as appropriate use of formal and/or informal register. Prerequisite: ITL 235 or by placement exam. Instructor permission required.

Elem Italian Conversation

Designed to support beginning Italian students and to help them improve their conversational skills. This course offers intensive practice in pronunciation, vocabulary, oral comprehension and conversation. It includes class discussions, role-playing and short oral presentations. Corequisite: ITL 110Y or ITL 111. Enrollment limited to 12.
