Hindi for Hindi-Urdu Spkrs II

Hindi for Hindi-Urdu Speakers II is a course offered through the Five College Center for World Languages for intermediate or advanced speakers of Hindi or Urdu who want to improve their reading and writing skills in Hindi. A placement interview is required. The course format includes individual tutorials and a final written evaluation. Students will study Hindi grammar and short texts of various genres. By the end of the course, students should be able to read and compose intermediate texts in Hindi.

Topics in Advanced Persian II focuses on developing advanced reading and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, and improving the ability to describe/narrate in detail and support opinions. Topics are chosen in consultation with the program director. The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Persian develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad and to support course work in Middle Eastern and Central Asian Studies.

Dari II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Dari. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Dari develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Afghanistan and to support course work in South Asian Studies.
