Burmese II

Burmese II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Burmese offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Burmese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Myanmar and engagement with Burmese-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Bangla/Bengali II

Bangla/Bengali II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Bangla offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Bangla develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Bangladesh and India and engagement with Bangla-speaking communities, and to support course work in Asian Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Armenian II

Afrikaans II

Afrikaans II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Afrikaans offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Afrikaans develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in South Africa and engagement with Afrikaans-speaking communities, and to support course work in African Studies and other academic, vocational, and personal goals.

Persian for Speakers I

Persian for Speakers I is designed for students who have advanced fluency in spoken Persian but need to learn to read and write. The course is offered through the Five College Mentored Language Program. The course format includes individual tutorials. A placement interview is required. The course includes a complete review of Persian grammar and structure. By the end of the course, students should be able to read standard Persian and be able to compose simple texts such as dialogues, paragraphs, and letters in written Persian.

Vietnamese/HeritageSpeakrs1

Vietnamese for Heritage Speakers I is the first part of a two-part elementary course sequence for students with a background in Vietnamese offered through the Five College Center for World Languages. The course format includes intensive independent study, small group conversation sessions led by a peer conversation partner, and an evaluation by an outside evaluator.
