Tutoring In Schools

The course introduces undergraduates to tutoring culturally and linguistically diverse students in elementary, middle, and secondary schools. In addition to a weekly seminar, University students tutor in schools on a schedule throughout the semester under the direction of student leaders, Faculty Directors of the TEAMS project, and public school teachers and administrators.

Creative Arts Young Child

This course prepares students to understand materials, methods and issues in teaching art from preschool through elementary school. The class focuses on learning appropriate art activities that enhance cognitive, emotional, social and developmental skills and benefit all learners. Development of studio art skills, art development, and classroom management unique to art education are an integral part of this class.

Curriculum Development

This course offers a foundational introduction to theory, research, and practice of curriculum development. We will examine competing theories of curriculum; current and historical curricular debates; recognized best practices in curriculum design; and the relationships among curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and social justice.
