S-Intro Early Child Educ

This course helps prospective early childhood teachers explore what it means to teach, and examines their assumptions about the teaching-learning process, and helps them formulate their own beliefs about educational practice based on how young children think and learn.

S-Leadership/Diverse Comm

The purpose of the course is to provide students general background information and understanding with working with diverse communities. Students will learn research and practice in this area of work as they learn how to be a change agent for the community. They will read about various leadership and administrative styles to lead in a diverse community.

Some of the topics that will be addressed are problem-finding strategies, types of educational research, quantitative and qualitative methodologies in education, and ethical principles in research. What does it mean to act ethically and provide leadership? Learn about methods used by ethicists, psychologists, sociologists, and political scientists, and about their theories and findings. Become more aware of your social context, and of how you and others think, feel, and act. Develop the self-management, interpersonal, analytical, and evaluation skills used by ethical leaders. (Gen.
