Fieldwork experience for qualified students. Coordinated through the University's Office of Internships. Prerequisite: LEGAL 250. Generally open only to Legal Studies majors. Individual faculty sponsorship required.
Decarbonization & Data Science
This course examines applications of Data Science in the decarbonization of energy systems. The course covers 1) basic energy systems concepts and background with US and global examples, 2) an introduction to relevant methods in statistical and geospatial data analytics and machine learning, and 3) trends and challenges affecting decarbonization in the electricity sector and beyond, with a focus on end-uses of energy.
Ukrainian III
Ukrainian III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Ukrainian. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Ukrainian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ukraine and to support course work in Eastern European Studies.
Sem: Approaching Queer Media
Approaching Queer Media considers the recent proliferation of LGBTQ+ representations in popular culture from historical, technological, commercial, social and legal perspectives. Approaching queer media as a historically specific yet shifting and-relational object of study, the course uses a critical framework of trajectories to consider disparate movements of queer media across historical periods, national boundaries, physical spaces and ideological assumptions, asking: What counts as queer? Is there a queer canon? A queer gaze? How is queer media history done?

Directing Actors
This course approaches motion picture directing through conservatory-style studio practice with a focus on directing actors. Through structured in-class exercises, assigned readings and out-of-class assignments, students develop and practice working methods including script and scene analysis and annotation, rehearsal techniques and supporting performance through camera placement and movement. Through theatre games, scene-work and projects, students explore story, dramatic structure, emotional relationships and interpretation within the visual framework of the moving image.
