Topics in Advanced Dari

Topics in Advanced Dari focuses on developing advanced reading and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, and improving the ability to describe/narrate in detail and support opinions. Topics are chosen in consultation with the program director. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Dari develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Afghanistan and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

Hist of the Far-Right

(Offered as HIST-222 [EU/TE/TR/TS/C] and POSC 222.The rise of the Far-Right at home and abroad in the last decade has taken much of the world by surprise, and calls for a reconsideration not only of its future but also of its history. Since WWII most of historical studies of the Far-Right have focused on the history of fascism, from proto-fascism to neo-fascism. in the twenty-first century; however, the Far-Right emerges as a much broader phenomenon, in chronology, in geography, and in attributes.

Dance: Contemporary Rep.

This course will include studio sessions in contemporary dance technique at the intermediate/advanced level, and rehearsal sessions to create original choreography; the new work will be presented in public performance(s). The emphasis in the course will be to increase expressive range, technical skills and the performance versatility of the performer through the practice, creation and performance of choreography. The course will include readings and video viewings to offer a broader understanding of performance and choreography.
