Honors Research

The Commonwealth Honors College thesis or project is intended to provide students with the opportunity to work closely with faculty members to define and carry out in-depth research or creative endeavors. It provides excellent preparation for students who intend to continue their education through graduate study or begin their professional careers. The student works closely with their 499Y Honors Research sponsor to pursue research on a topic or question of special interest to them in preparation for writing a 499T Honors Thesis or completing a 499P Honors Project.

S- Poetry & Consciousness

This seminar will be an in-depth discussion of poetry as embodied consciousness on the page. Rooted in exploration of self and world, we'll look at examples of how poetry is uniquely situated to sculpt - from the strange unknowable material of the individual unconscious - a shared experience with readers. Together we will challenge our own ideas of self in writing, investigating concepts of reality, memory, dreams, Nature and modes of consciousness.

As the holistic study of the human experience, cultural anthropology addresses these questions in a world shaped by human migration, climate change, capitalist extraction and global inequality.
