Intro/Python for Data Sci

Python has gained immense popularity as a programming language due to its ability to handle diverse types of data, powerful libraries for data analysis, robust support for tasks such as web scraping and data extraction from online sources, and its widespread use in machine learning and deep learning communities. Python is known for its readability and ease of use, making it a favorite among beginners and seasoned programmers alike.

First Year Chinese I

ASIAN-110 is the first semester of the first-year Chinese course. This is an intensive course emphasizing the rapid development of listening and speaking ability and intended for students with no or very little prior knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. Points of focus include pronunciation and tones, basic syntax, high-frequency vocabulary words, conversational flow, and an introduction to reading and writing Chinese characters. Relevant cultural knowledge and activities will be incorporated into the curriculum.

Intro to Int. Relations

This course will attempt to analyze and illuminate the leading theories of international relations (IR) today, as well as the evolution of IR as a discipline. It is meant to encourage a critical attitude towards all theoretical perspectives discussed, not only to familiarize students with the major paradigms of IR, but also to appreciate what the “international” means and how, if at all, it can be demarcated from “domestic” politics. In addition, the course will examine numerous complex international and global challenges which humankind faces today.

This course provides an introduction to the role and impact that international organizations (IOs) have on modern world politics. Since their proliferation in the twentieth century, IOs have become an essential part of the global economic and security commons. Much has been discussed about their relevance in bringing peace and stability, and whether they challenge the supremacy of the nation-state in international relations.
