Sem-Senior Project

Course requires that individual BA and BFA candidates create an 8-12 minutes of original work, bringing it through all stages of production to concert performance. Students will take on all aspects of being creative director of their senior project; including auditions, casting, rehearsal schedule and overall creative process. In addition, students will be required to keep a written journal and also submit an in depth creative process research paper.

Jazz Dance V

Advanced jazz technique, including body isolations, syncopation, specific jazz dance traditions, and movement analysis. Emphasis on musical and rhythmic phrasing, efficient alignment, performance clarity, and performance style. Taught on one campus each semester. Location alternates between the University and Smith. Placement in the course is by Five College audition.

Practicum Production III

This course is one of three courses where students learn the responsibilities and processes of preparing for a live theatrical production by working on an actual production running crew. It requires each student to put in scheduled hours on a particular show. Students will be contributing to a production team (stage manager, assistant stage manager, designer, video/sound technician, etc.) or helping on a run crew (deck hand, wardrobe supervisor, light board operator, sound board operator, dresser, make-up assistant, etc).
