Feminist Mathematics

This course takes a critical look at mathematics through the lens of feminist theory, pedagogy, and practice. Students examine how knowledge in mathematics has been historically constructed, who has been excluded, and how feminist perspectives can reshape the understanding of mathematical reasoning, teaching, and applications.

An introduction to discrete (finite) mathematics with emphasis on the study of algorithms and on applications to mathematical modeling and computer science. Topics include sets, logic, graph theory, induction, recursion, counting and combinatorics. Enrollment limited to 25.
