Science of Craft

In this course, principles and skills of physical sciences are developed and used to investigate questions inspired by four crafts: Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Brewing, and Glassblowing. Topics generally include measurement of and relationship between physical properties; atomic and molecular structure and properties; experimental design and data analysis; light, energy, and spectroscopy; geometric optics; cellular respiration; and others as needed to understand the materials, tools, methods, and processes used in these crafts.
