Resrch Molec BIO/ Infect Diseas

Students design and conduct their own experiments focused on the molecular biology of infectious diseases and their vectors.. Techniques covered will include massively parallel DNA sequencing, design of nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs), CRISPR modification, RNA interference, cell culture, transgenesis and other related molecular methodologies. This laboratory course is designed to be a true research experience that will require significant laboratory time outside of the normal discussion meeting times (2 hours per week). Prerequisites: BIO 132 and BIO 133. Enrollment limited to 25.
