S-AdvancingDiversity/Rsrch&Prc

This weekly seminar will be focused on increasing students' knowledge base about current psychological topics related to diversity in research and applied settings and fostering students' professional development (e.g., providing education about different career paths and graduate school) to prepare students for future careers in psychology with a strong foundation in diversity-related topics.

Quantum Field Theory II

Second half of a full year course in Quantum Field Theory. The focus will be on symmetries in quantum field theory, with a particular emphasis on the Poincare group and its representations. Quantization of spin-1/2 fields will be subsequently covered, followed by an in-depth treatment of Quantum Electrodynamics and its renormalization. An introduction to path integral quantization and non-Abelian gauge theories will also be included.

Chem Process Design Project

This is a course as part of the chemical process design. The course focuses on the design of a chemical process to meet desired needs and specifications within constraints. The design project involves an iterative, creative, decision-making process in which the chemical engineering principles are applied to convert resources into solutions with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.

Corporation Finance

The time value of money; valuation of financial securities; allocating capital; an introduction to risk and risky decision making; the financing decision of the firm; financial statement and working capital management; more special topics include mergers and acquisitions, and international finance. Prerequisite: ACCOUNTG 221

S-The Short Novel

This seminar will study the form in between the novel and the short story. Longer than a short story but shorter than a novel, the novella/the long short story/the short novel is a form whose precise nature lies in the grey area between two more notorious and infamous cousins. If a short story burns with a momentary, gem-like flame and a novel indulges its digressions, what characteristics define the in-between form?

School Counseling Skills&Strat

This course will provide students with a foundation in counseling theories and skills. We will focus on counseling children in schools and on integrating theory and practice. Classes will consist of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, role plays, small-group activities, and skill practice in large and small groups. Students will also record themselves using counseling skills and self-evaluate these clips.

FightingHarmfulErroneousBelief

Examines how erroneous beliefs form and why they survive. Builds skills to reveal their shaky foundations and fight their harmful consequences. Analyzes beliefs relating to health, the environment, sports, and social structures, including the American race-based caste system. Introduces statistical and research design concepts. Analysis emphasized; minimal calculations. Counts as a Foundations course toward the Education minor. Team-based learning. (Gen.Ed. R2)
