ST- Organizational Psychology

Through a scientist-practitioner perspective an overview and exploration of how psychology and behavioral science is applied in the workplace and organizations both historically and in current practices. Topics include the application of psychology and behavioral science to: the organization's talent/employee life cycle and related key metrics - such as effectiveness, satisfaction, engagement, and culture; the organizational change process; individual and organizational wellbeing and resilience; and individual work and careers. Pre-req: Introduction to Psychology.

ST- Autism Spectrum Disorder

This course will provide students with a broad overview of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across the lifespan. Students will learn about the defining characteristics (behavior, communication, sensory/motor issues) and biological and neurological bases of ASD. Identification and diagnosis, assessment, and approaches to intervention within family and school settings will be discussed. Ethical and cultural issues will also be discussed.

S- Adoption Practicum Seminar

The goal of this seminar is to provide education on current research on adoption and diverse family types. The course is designed for students who are adopted or who have experienced foster care. Students are required to participate in class discussions in which they will discuss issues and subjects relevant to the adoption literature. There is a required practicum component to this seminar in which students will serve as mentors to adopted children in the Adoption Mentoring Partnership or complete an adoption related practicum.

S-Junior Year Writing

This is a writing-intensive course that fulfills the University's Junior Writing requirement. Each section focuses on a particular aspect of current issues in psychology. The topic is selected based on the expertise of the teaching staff. All sections share similar writing assignments, ranging from in-class short writing assignments to lengthy papers that include literature review. Classes emphasize discussion and extensive peer review of written work. Topics for individual sections will not be available until shortly before the start of the semester.
