Hnrs Indstu An Sci

This is a stand-alone independent study designed by the student and faculty sponsor that involves frequent interaction between instructor and student. Qualitative and quantitative enrichment must be evident on the proposed contract before consent is given to undertake the study.

CritThink&ProbSolv/VetMed

This course is tailored to the knowledge and problem solving skills needed to successfully maneuver concerns and issues that arise within the veterinary profession. It asks students to reflect on the knowledge they have gained throughout their undergraduate education, incorporating their general education courses and their animal science courses to develop solutions to current problems encountered within the profession.

Problem-BasedLrng/AdvAnimlHlth

Real-world cases involving management and veterinary medicine for large animals, companion animals, and wildlife will be presented. With instructor guidance, students will work to identify and solve problems posed by each case, while expanding their knowledge and developing skills in critical thinking, self-directed learning, problem solving, written and oral presentation, and teamwork. Satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BS-AnSci and BS-PreVet majors.

Good Intentions

The course focuses on understanding and solving problems that have arisen, at least in part, from human-animal interactions. While these interactions frequently originate with the best of intentions, the consequences are often unexpected and not very good. Through reading primary peer-reviewed literature as well as web postings, students will acquire the specific knowledge, which, combined with information from their previous courses in their major and general education classes, will form the basis for group and class discussions.
