ST- Czech VIII

Czech VIII is the fourth part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Czech. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Czech develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Czech Republic and to support course work in European Studies.

ST-Czech V

ST-Topics in Advanced Czech I

Topics in Advanced Czech focuses on developing advanced reading and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, and improving the ability to describe/narrate in detail and support opinions. Topics are chosen in consultation with the program director. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Czech develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Czech Republic and to support course work in European Studies.

Sustainability/BuiltEnvironmnt

We will explore the issues of sustainability from the perspective of the built environment, our history of construction and expansion, and buildings and how they interact with the natural environment. Students will be exposed to issues of human impacts on natural systems through the built environment and the variety of disciplines that are working to create a more sustainable future. (Gen.Ed. I)

Colq:Intro to Creative Writing

This coursefamiliarizes students with key aspects of structure and form in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. We focus in turn on such elements of creative writing as imagery, diction, figurative language, character, setting, and plot. Students draft, workshop, and revise three pieces of writing over the course of the semester, one each in the genres of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Enrollment limited to 14.
