S-I Levantine Arabic I

Levantine Arabic I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Levantine Arabic. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Levantine Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Levantine Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria or the West Bank and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies.

ST- Norwegian VII

Norwegian VII is the third part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Norwegian. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Norwegian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Norway and to support course work in European Studies and Scandinavian Studies.

ST-Topics in Adv Bulgarian I

Topics in Advanced Bulgarian focuses on developing advanced reading and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, and improving the ability to describe/narrate in detail and support opinions. Topics are chosen in consultation with the program director. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Bulgarian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Bulgaria and to support course work in European Studies.

ST- Moroccan Arabic IV

The course format includes small group conversation sessions and individual tutorials. Students studying Turkish develop speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural etiquette skills needed for study abroad in Turkey and to support course work in Middle Eastern Studies.

ST- Wolof V

Wolof V is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Wolof. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Wolof develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in West Africa, especially Senegal, and to support course work in African Studies.

ST-Cantonese/MandarinSpeakrsVI

Spoken Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Spoken Cantonese for Mandarin Speakers. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Cantonese develop speaking and listening skills needed to live and work in China or Hong Kong and to support coursework in East Asian Studies.
