Filipino III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Filipino, the national language of the Philippines, developed from Tagalog and other regional languages. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Filipino develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Philippines and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.

Haitian Creole III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Haitian Creole. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Haitian Creole develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Haiti and to support course work in Caribbean and/or Francophone Studies.

Bangla/Bengali I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Bangla. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Bangla/Bengali develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Bangladesh and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

Norwegian V is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Norwegian I-IV or the equivalent. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Norwegian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Norway and to support course work in European Studies and Scandinavian Studies.

Mongolian III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Mongolian. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. Levantine Arabic VI is the second part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Levantine Arabic. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Levantine Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Levantine Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria or the West Bank and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies.

An advanced course focuses on developing reading and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, and improving the ability to describe/narrate in detail and support opinions. Topics chosen in consultation with the program director.
