Marketing Analytics Using R

In the digital age, the ability to analyze and interpret marketing data has become essential for success. This course is designed to equip students with the skills needed to harness the power of data in making strategic marketing decisions. Through a blend of theoretical concepts and hands-on practice, students will learn how to clean, analyze, and visualize marketing data from real world datasets. Students will acquire knowledge about the methods and software that are used to understand issues such as market segmentation, sales forecasting, and conjoint analysis.

Reflection on Research

This seminar provides an opportunity for students to reflect on how their research project relates to their previous coursework in Classics and in general education, to collaborate with peers in learning by sharing progress as they complete their projects and offering suggestions to one another for meeting challenges, and to communicate the final results of their projects orally and/or visually to each other and departmental faculty in the setting of a year-end research symposium.

Political Economy III

Advanced treatment of contemporary theoretical and empirical research in Marxian political economy. Topics include: debates in the labor theory of value; the so-called transformation problem; circuit of capital model; theories of exploitation; theory of finance capital and imperialism; distribution of surplus value - interest, commercial profit, rent; profitability and capital accumulation; theories of capitalist crisis. Prerequisite: ECON 708 or 709

Environmental Analytical Chem

An introduction to some common environmental chemical processes in air, soil and water, coupled with a study of the crucial role of accurate chemical measurement of these processes. Lecture and laboratory featuring modern chemical instrumentation for spectroscopy (atomic and molecular) high performance chromatographic separations (both gas and liquid), electrochemistry as well as microwave- and ultrasound-assisted sample preparation, and a short project linked to local faculty research interests. Oral presentations and formal laboratory reports required.

Chemistry III Lab: Organic Lab

Lab section. Material builds on introductory organic chemistry topics covered in CHM 222 and focuses more heavily on retrosynthetic analysis and multistep synthetic planning. Specific topics include reactions of alkyl halides, alcohols and ethers; aromaticity and reactions of benzene; and cycloaddition reactions including the Diels-Alder reaction. Corequisite: CHM 223. Prerequisite: CHM 222/ CHM 222L, or equivalent. Enrollment limited to 16.
