Social Cognitive Development

This course explores how people come to understand others, navigate relationships, and make sense of the social world. We will explore the multifaceted and intersectional nature of social cognition including topics such as theory of mind, empathy, prosocial behavior, and the influence of culture and context. Topics will be discussed in relation to their development from infancy through late adulthood.

Intro to Medical Microbiology

Not for majors. With lab. Basic concepts of microbiology with emphasis on microbial pathogenesis and immunity. Medically important microorganisms including bacteria, fungi, viruses, rickettsia, protozoa, and the diseases which they produce. Laboratory exercises develop fundamental skills in aseptic technique, microscopy, pure culture study, and the isolation and identification of pathogenic microorganisms.

Campaigns and Elections

This course is designed to give students a deep understanding of electoral politics in the United States. We will do this from both an academic and practical perspective. Students will learn about how campaigns work and will learn about the factors that drive American electoral politics.
