Atomistic Simulations

Heterogeneous catalysis plays an important role in industrial processes, including energy conversion, chemical production, and environmental remediation. In recent decades, computational modeling has made remarkable progress towards understanding the nature of active sites and elementary reaction steps. Despite these advancements in the field, there is still an existing gap between theory and experiment, which hinders the rapid discovery of efficient catalytic materials. This discrepancy arises from the complexity of the solid-liquid interfaces where electrocatalytic reactions take place.

Fundamental/DataAnalyticSocSci

This course is an exciting, hands-on journey into the world of data science, designed to empower you with the tools to make sense of the vast amounts of data shaping today's world. Whether it's analyzing social trends, uncovering patterns in political behavior, or visualizing public health data, this course gives you the skills to turn raw information into powerful stories. You'll dive right into the R programming language, one of the most sought-after skills in data science, learning how to wrangle, visualize, and transform data into insights that matter.

Art and Code

This studio course explores the creative possibilities of code-based art. Students explore interactive artwork using both analog and digital processes; learn computer programming fundamentals in an arts context; and gain an understanding of procedural, generative, and algorithmic logic as seen within a range of art and design practices. While we will be working in the Web browser with p5.js, a JavaScript framework built with artists and designers in mind, the skills learned in this class can be applied to a variety of programming languages and softwares.

Grad Photography I

This beginning course will focus on analog capture, film development and printing. As you develop the skills needed to create images you will apply them to concepts and projects. In addition to slide lectures and reviews of projects we will also look at a range of historical and contemporary international artists, whose diverse practices conceptually and theoretically situate assigned projects.
