Advanced course on optics with laboratory section. Topics include a selection from: modern optics, geometrical and classical physical optics, matrix methods in optical design, optical instruments, interference and spatial coherence, diffraction, Fourier transform spectroscopy, quantum optics, light detection, and image analysis.

Modern and classic experiments performed with up-to-date techniques. Course complements 400-level physics courses, and satisfies the Integrative Experience requirement for BA-Physics and BS-Physics majors

Second half of the experimental course for sophomore majors. Experiments on a range of topics in modern physics. Corequisite: PHYSICS 284.

A rigorous introductory course in electricity and magnetism with emphasis on electrostatics, currents, circuits, magnetic fields and magnetic induction, ending with Maxwell's equations. For Physics and Astronomy majors. An optional honors colloquium is available for this course. (Gen. Ed. PS)
