Independent Study

Independent student research in neuroscience and behavior. The work is supervised by a faculty sponsor who determines direction of the project, reports required, grade and credit awarded. The project may consist of laboratory research, library research, or some combination of the two. Credit is variable (1-6 credits) and independent study may be repeated each semester. May be taken for a letter grade or graded Satisfactory (SAT). A SAT is similar to the undergraduate Pass (P) and is defined as passing for graduate credit.

Honors Research

An independent research project supervised by a professor chosen by student. Early in semester a thesis proposal is written, approved by a thesis committee and submitted to the Commonwealth College Office. About 3-4 hours of lab per week per credit. Continued as 499T in subsequent semester.

TeamLab/DiscRenewableEnergy

iCons III: "Team-Oriented Lab Discovery in Renewable Energy" involves student-driven, team-oriented laboratory projects focused on the interrelated principles of energy generation, conversion, storage and consumption, particularly emphasizing the science underlying renewable energy systems. Projects incorporate experimental techniques from the chemical, physical, mathematical, and life sciences. The intent of this course is to examine cross-disciplinary methods to address real world energy-related issues.
