Intro/Biostats for PUBHLTH

This introductory course is designed to give students the basic skills to organize and summarize data, along with an introduction to the fundamental principles of statistical inference. The course emphasizes an understanding of statistical concepts and interpretation of numeric data summaries along with basic analysis methods, using examples and exercises from medical and public health studies.

FYS- Getting on Track

The purpose of this course is to prepare exploratory track students to achieve academic success at UMass. The curriculum will aim to orient students to the health science fields and the major options within, assist students with major exploration outside of the health sciences, create strategies for academic success, transition to campus life and learn how to effectively navigate and utilize campus resources.

Using active, socially engaged approaches we will examine topics such as resilience and stress, social image, healthy eating, social activism, substance use, healthy relationships, and human sexuality (Gen.Ed. SI, DU).
