In this course, upper-level students in the College of Engineering build their knowledge base of how to be an effective mentor as well as what to look for in a mentoring relationship for themselves. Interactions with peers can be extremely complex and formative for both the mentee and mentor. Training will include a review of the literature, workshops, and discussion. As part of the class, students will lay the foundation for the freshman-mentoring program for the subsequent fall.

Private study - individual instruction in the use of current and emerging technologies for the creation and performance of electronic music and sonic art.

Apply theater technology technical design process to the creation of a giant, interactive puppet. Using project management methodology, students make this unique being from scratch, from initial imagining through hands-on work to the end of semester live performance outside, rain or shine.

Properties of complex numbers. Rectangular, exponential, and graphical representations of complex numbers. Euler's identity and translating between representations. Basic and advanced operations with complex numbers, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, as well as exp(z), ln(z), a^z, and z^a. Applying knowledge of complex numbers to linear algebra and differential equations using MATLAB.

Advanced training in practical techniques associated with the translation of modern Japanese; familiarization with appropriate glossaries, dictionaries and other translator's tools. Discussion of specific problems in Japanese-English translation and practice with a variety of prose styles used in journalistic, political, commercial, literary, and other forms of modern writing.
