ST- MakerspaceLeadership&Outr

This course is designed not to provide new instruction but to provide students an opportunity to design, develop, test, implement, manage and lead an outreach "makerspace" project and workshop targeting middle- and high-school youth. While there is some opportunity for creativity on what the project is about, in many cases they may focus on open source environmental sensing technologies built on Arduino microcontrollers, 3D design and printing applications, or projects related to "smart cities" and the management of public problems and services.

INTERPRET VIS/ MOTN GRAPH DESG

This course will focus on the intersection between data visualization and the basic principles of motion graphics design. Students will explore various graphicacy techniques to interpret and analyze different sets of data, andwill employ visual design principles to maximize cognitive efficacy. Students will apply techniques for vectoranimation and digital compositing to create a conceptual and/or data-driven video abstract for a topic in anacademic discipline of their choice. Appropriate and current industry standard computer applications will be introduced and applied. Enrollment limit of 12.

Writing Poetry I

A first workshop in the writing of poetry. Class members will read and discuss each others’ work and will study the elements of prosody: the line, stanza forms, meter, free verse, and more. Open to anyone interested in writing poetry and learning about the rudiments of craft. Writing exercises weekly.
