Chemical Biology

This course will present proteins, nucleic acids, and oligosaccharides from the perspective of organic chemistry. Methods for their synthesis, purification, and chemical manipulations will be discussed, focusing on the application of chemical approaches to studying biological questions. For each topic, appropriate bioanalytical techniques will be emphasized.

Students will examine the military heritage of the United States from the colonial period to the early twenty first century. Emphasis is placed on using common themes that relate to the American experience in war to determine how periods of peace and war challenged the nation and influenced the development of its military policy. Military Law and ethics, constitutional basis of powers, basic principles of criminal law and ethics; rules of evidence; military judicial structuring within the Army and issues dealing with problems faced by the newly commissioned officer.

Introduction to military leadership and management. Development of practical managerial/leadership skills in planning, organizing, delegation, and control and development of instructor skills through instruction training, performance-oriented training, and individual classroom presentations.
