This course fulfills the University's Junior Year Writing Requirement for students in the College of Engineering. Students will be introduced to traditional technical and scientific writing forms, including outlines, summaries, mechanical and technical descriptions, extended technical definitions, research reports, and proposals. This seminar will introduce students to the new field of environmental epigenetics. Through videos and discussion of recent research papers, students will learn how the environment (nutrition, chemicals, psychosocial stress) can shape our genetic makeup and ultimately influence disease susceptibility.
