TANTRA & YOGA IN INDIA
Tantra and yoga teach techniques to attain magical powers, achieve liberation, and transform the world. These traditions have influenced nearly every aspect of Indian religious life over the last two millennia, and yet they have often been shrouded in secrecy because of their potency. This course explores these complex traditions by considering source materials in translation as well as contemporary theoretical literature on practice, ritual, transgression, and historiography. (E)
SEM: MOLECULAR-CANCER GENETICS
Topics course.: Cancer is a broad term that refers to a complex and diverse group of human diseases. While there are many environmental and non-genetic factors that contribute to the development of cancer, cancer is ultimately a genetic disease. This seminar explores the genetic alterations that prompt the formation and growth of tumors and investigates how these altered genes are being utilized to detect and treat cancer. Topics covered include the different types of cancer genes, the ways in which genetic variants are acquired, and how genomic alterations impact intracellular functions.
