Dutch V is the first part of a four-part intermediate course sequence in Dutch. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Recognizing health as a fundamental human right means investigating the reasons why some have adequate health care while others do not, and why some populations disproportionately suffer from disease and ill health. This seminar will examine the underlying social and political determinants of illness, especially as connected to war and conflict. What do we mean by the "underdevelopment of health" and how do we understand global health issues and disparities in their historical contexts?

his is a combination lab and lecture based course that will introduce early stage students to design of experiments, design and implementation of research projects in Chemical Engineering (both industrial and academic), statistical analysis of data, lab safety, and pitching research ideas and completed projects to communities of professionals.
