What defines American liberalism and conservatism and how has each evolved since the founding of the United States? What about more radical voices on the left and right, and those Americans whose political worldviews do not neatly fit either basic orientation? We consider a diverse set of perspectives, both with respect to ideological commitments and to the identities (gender, race, class, etc.) of the communicators encountered, while paying careful attention to the historical contexts in which these perspectives have been forged. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, global temperatures are expected to increase 1.1 to 6.4 degrees Celsius during the 21st century, and precipitation patterns will be altered by climate change. Soils are intricately linked to the atmospheric climate system through the carbon, nitrogen, and hydrologic cycles. Altered climate will, therefore, have an effect on soil processes and properties, and at the same time, the soils themselves will have an effect on climate.

Educational strategies for increasing SJE educators' self-knowledge. Focus on self-awareness of social group memberships and the impact of those identities upon social justice education leadership skills. Experiential approach to processes, concepts, and skills leading toward self-observation and development of effective responses to social justice education classrooms and teacher training, such as management conflict, recognizing and working effectively with resistance, and group-leader dynamics.

Modeling, analysis, and simulation of dynamic systems. Models for the dynamics of systems from different disciplines derived using differential equations and then transformed into state-space and input/output forms, and finally simulated. Relevant concepts from Laplace Transform, linear algebra, and complex variables covered. The models analyzed for transient response and frequency response properties.
