This course is part of the Political Science and Legal Studies Undergraduate Research Engagement Program (UREP). When possible, student interests are paired with faculty in need of research assistance. Please visit the Political Science department website for information.

Students will prepare for, compete in and report on their participation in the PLANET-SCD event. Student Career Days, sponsored by the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), is an annual event for higher education students in landscape career programs nationwide.

COMM Seniors enrolled in the colloquium will take part in a community service learning project in which they will create, practice, and then implement a media literacy unit for local sixth graders. Students will work with the instructor for the first half of the semester to create readings, exercises, and activities designed to inspire local young people to develop critical thinking about our topic, media violence. Then, students will travel to local sixth grade classrooms to implement the unit, facilitating dialogue with the sixth graders on the topic.
