Vietnamese for Heritage Speakers II is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Vietnamese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Vietnam and to support course work in Asian Studies.

Afrikaans IV

Offered in independent study format, Afrikaans IV includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an external evaluator. Students develop speaking and listening skills at the elementary level.

P- Cooperative Practicum

Field-based research internship with, or related to, a cooperative enterprise. Students gain experience in doing applied economic research in the context of collaboration with faculty, other students, and owners/managers of cooperative firms. This internship is required for completion of the Certificate in Applied Economics Research on Cooperative Enterprise.

RIGHTS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

Pending CAP approval. The status of indigenous peoples is dizzyingly complex. This course examines rights claims asserted by indigenous peoples under both domestic and international laws. It then explores the status of indigenous persons in the US, looking at relationships between tribes and tribal members, between states and tribes and between tribes and the federal government, comparing these issues with the treatment of indigenous peoples around the globe.
