Calculus I

This course is for students who have not studied calculus and who have the necessary precalculus background. It presents rates of change and their applications, integrals, the fundamental theorem, and modeling of phenomena in the natural and social sciences. All students are required to complete the online self assessment of precalculus skills before the course begins.

Psychology of Sex Difference

In this course, we will examine a number of topics within the realm of sex difference. Topics covered will include a discussion of the differences between sex and gender, the effect of sex hormones on cognitive processing, sex differences in mental illness, sex disparities in STEM fields, and stereotype threat and cognitive performance.

Circuit Analysis II

With lab. Continuation of ECE 211. Analysis techniques for ac circuits, frequency response, resonance, Bode plots, phasor representation of sinusoidal steady-state systems, complex frequency domain, transfer functions. MOSFETs as amplifiers; operational amplifiers. Transformers, two-port networks, Fourier series. Lab includes circuit hardware and PSPICE simulation experiments.

Hearing Health and Society

Students will analyze how hearing loss influences behavior of individuals and interactions among individuals within larger social/societal groups across the lifespan. They will consider the importance of early detection of hearing loss, advocacy and promotion of hearing conservation in different environments, and socio-emotional effects of hearing loss with aging. Approaches to promoting behaviors that enhance communication in the presence of hearing loss will be explored. Philosophical, policy, and cultural controversies for defining hearing loss as a disability will be examined.

Practicum

A practicum/internship will help you gain invaluable knowledge and skills that can serve as a stepping-stone to your career. You can find an internship locally, in a major city, or abroad. Seeking an practicum/internship requires a great deal of initiative on your part - you must both find a site where you can work and connect with a faculty member who will support you in your academic efforts related to that work.
