S:TOPCS ENVIR BIO-MICROBE ECOL

Topics course.: This seminar explores microbial ecology in the context of global climate change. Using principles from microbial ecology (competitive exclusion and the paradox of the plankton), we will cover topics including the complexity of microbial food webs, biogeography of microbes, and the impact of environmental changes on microbial diversity. Emphasis will be on synthesizing primary literature, mastering a specific topic for a research project, and conveying complex information in a manner that is accessible to an interested layperson.
