This course introduces speaking, reading, and writing German. Cultural and literary readings together with frequent use of video and other online resources dealing with everyday situations and experiences in the German-speaking countries sensitize students to the cultural context in which the language is used. Weekly conversation sessions with a German language assistant supplement class work.

This workshop is intended for intermediate and advanced students who wish to pursue independent animation projects within a classroom environment. It provides a structured opportunity for students to develop projects of their own choosing and is ideal for students in Division II. The weekly meetings will be structured around providing creative and critical support for the participants. All participants will be required to present their work to the group frequently during the semester, and these reviews may be complemented with readings, screenings, and other assignments where appropriate.

This course offers an introduction to the field of child and adolescent psychopathology. We will review contemporary approaches to understanding the clinical features, diagnosis, causes, developmental course, and prevention of major psychological disorders in childhood and adolescence. Core emphases include: l) Conceptual understanding. This fascinating field has been densely researched and the pace of knowledge growth is very rapid.

This course will introduce students to the traditions and expectations of the Journalism Program, as well as resources and opportunities that will help them as they move through the major. Through workshops and exercises, students will meet faculty, get to know campus media and career services staff, learn about the writing and academic expectations of the program.

What defines American liberalism and conservatism and how has each evolved since the founding of the United States? What about more radical voices on the left and right, and those Americans whose political worldviews do not neatly fit either basic orientation? We consider a diverse set of perspectives, both with respect to ideological commitments and to the identities (gender, race, class, etc.) of the communicators encountered, while paying careful attention to the historical contexts in which these perspectives have been forged.

Through critical queer, critical race and settler colonial theory, this course will study the concepts of sexual citizenship/respectability in relation to criminality of "deviant" sexualized, racialized, colonized bodies.
