Digital Culture

An introduction to digital culture, including study of actual works of art in their new digital forms and the implications of "hypertext" for creative writing, theory, and criticism. Potential for academic research on the Internet, the World Wide Web, and electronic libraries.

Writing in Engineering

This course fulfills the University's Junior Year Writing Requirement for students in the College of Engineering. Students will be introduced to traditional technical and scientific writing forms, including outlines, summaries, mechanical and technical descriptions, extended technical definitions, research reports, and proposals. Grammar review, oral presentations and on-line research are significant components of this course. Students will also investigate ethics in engineering practice and research.

ST-Foundation of Accounting

In this course students will learn to prepare and interpret the three major components of the corporate annual report: the Balance Sheet, the Income Statement, and the Statement of Cash Flows. The underlying accounting model that produces these statements will be critically reviewed; both its strengths and limitations will be evaluated. Additionally the role of popular ratios in forecasting firm profitability, risk, and liquidity are considered. Student will gain this knowledge through homework assignments, discussion questions, and an integrative case analysis.

Seminar in Tourism Thry & Rsch

This course is designed to be a graduate level seminar in theory construction in general and as it applies to the tourism phenomenon and its impacts. It is designed to give students an introduction into the basic concepts of theory using published research from the fields of management, marketing, hospitality and tourism management. Students are expected to develop an understanding of classic theories within their specific areas of interest and create a foundation framework for three dissertation research.

Theory Sound/Speech&Hrg Sci

Fundamentals of wave motion, vibration of strings, sound waves, resonance, harmonic analysis, sound intensity and the decibel, physics of the ear and theories of hearing, physics of speech, elementary properties of microphones and speakers. Prerequisite to COMM-DIS 311, 312. For communication disorders majors; open to others. Algebra skills needed. (Gen.Ed. PS)

Organizational Strategy

Capstone course requiring application of knowledge and techniques derived from previous courses. Course presents strategic management theories and frameworks, uses integrative cases, and leverages empirical observations to guide students in the formulation of successful firm-level strategies.
