With transcription lab. The sound system of English and, to a lesser extent, those of other languages. Phonemes, allophones, phonological rules, and historical changes in the English language. Phonetic universals in comparison to English phonetics. Reading and writing English words and sentences using the International Phonetic Alphabet, including special symbols used for coarticulation, dialects, disorders, and infant vocalizations.
