These one-credit topics are designed to give students a weekly study of a specific dance technique to augment their on-going training. Students registered for a topic in this course must have completed or be concurrently registered for a related two-credit technique class and are required to be at the high intermediate or advanced level in that technique. Dance faculty should be consulted concerning questions about level placement.

A study of the highly romantic poetry that launched a revolution in Latin literature, including such works as Catullus's epyllion on Peleus and Thetis and Vergil's Eclogues and Georgics, with attention to the new understanding of poetry shown in these poems and to their commentary on the social turmoil of the last phase of the Republic.

In this course, students will learn how to analyze data arising from a broad array of observational and experimental studies. Topics covered will include exploratory graphics, description techniques, the fitting and assessment of statistical models, hypothesis testing, and communication of results. Specific topics may include multiple regression, ANOVA, and non-linear regression. Statistical software will be used.

This course addresses outdoor leadership from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Readings and discussions will focus on such topics as safety and risk management, group development theory, social justice issues and the educational use of the wilderness. Practical lab sessions will cover such topics as emergency procedures, trip planning, outdoor travel, Leave No Trace, and the instruction of specific wilderness activities. Two weekend outdoor trips and teaching opportunities provide experiential learning in the class.
