ST- Appl Information Retrieval

This course will provide a "flipped classroom" experience, with both online lectures, programming exercises, and other activities as well as a weekly lecture/exploration/discussion section. This is a graduate level course intended to cover information retrieval and other information processing activities, from an applied perspective. There will be numerous programming projects, as well as short answer homeworks. It provides both a richer technical follow on to COMPSCI 446 (Search Engines), for undergraduates interested in a deeper understanding of the technologies.

This is an introductory class to R programming language designed for senior undergrads and junior graduate students. It lays out all the fundamentals of R, such as syntax, data structure, function design, package design, etc. Some important advanced features and packages will also be introduced, including dplyr, ggplot2, Rmarkdown and shiny. The objective is to give a comprehensive view about R, to provide as many guidance for future studying and practicing, and at the same time to distribute as many raw materials as possible for a jump start.

ST- Modern Irish VII

Modern Irish VII is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Modern Irish I-VI or the equivalent. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Modern Irish (also known as Irish Gaelic) develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ireland and to support course work in Celtic Studies.

Malay IV

Malay IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Malay. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Malay develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Malaysia and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.

Georgian IV

Georgian IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Georgian. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Georgian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Georgia and to support course work in Eurasian Studies.
