Computr Architecture

A graduate version of E&C-Eng 568. Quantitative study of pipelined processor architectures, memory, Input/Output, RISC processors and vector machines. Prerequisite: undergraduate courses in digital design and hardware organization.

This writing-intensive course helps to prepare students for future writing in the world, focusing on writing related to their BDIC concentrations. Students will work on skills that cross disciplines and jobs, including how to find, use and evaluate resources, techniques and feedback that can help with writing, how to plan larger writing projects and how to use revision strategies effectively. Coursework includes several projects designed around the students' concentrations, an annotated bibliography, and a cover letter and resume. Prerequisite: BDIC 396P

S-Cmptr Crime Law:Invstg/Prvcy

A study, analysis, and discussion of the legal issues related to crimes involving computers and networks, including topical actions by dissidents and governments. We will also study the technologies of forensic investigation, intelligence gathering, privacy enhancement, and censorship resistance. Our main legal topics will include recent and important case law, statutes, and constitutional clauses concerning authorization, access, search and seizure, wiretaps, the right to privacy, and FISA.

Env. & Occupational Toxicology

The toxicological activity of toxic substances found in the general environment and in industrial settings. Topics include biochemical mechanisms for absorption, excretion, tissue distribution, metabolic transformations, and conjugations; comparative metabolism of animal species; special applications to the toxicology of heavy metals, pesticides, and other industrial chemicals.

FYS-ExMachina:Humanities/21Cen

In some college classrooms, you have to silence and put away your digital gadgets. This course is different: you will be using these gadgets to learn, to collaborate, and to discover new approaches to old subjects, including philosophy, history, art, music and literature. This course will introduce you to the Digital Humanities - a discipline that addresses how computers and other digital technologies are reshaping the study of what it means to be human. Digital Humanities is also a set of practices that you will experiment with hands-on.
