ST- Service Experience Mgmt

In the U.S. approximately 82% of the work force and 80% of the GDP is accounted for by service. To create value for customers, firms must connect with the customers and must create experiences that are memorable and have value for each individual customer. Service experience management is the process of strategically managing a customer's entire experience with a product, service, and company. This course focuses on understanding service experience management in terms of external, internal, and interactive marketing and management principles.

Cellular&Molecular Biology Lab

Cellular and Molecular Biology Lab is a hands-on project-based course where students explore aspects of cell biology, particularly how proteins within cells are targeted to their correct intracellular location. The class will focus on targeting proteins to intracellular organelles. To approach this cell biological question, students will be using a host of current tools in the life sciences including, bioinformatics, DNA cloning, cell transformation, and microscopy.

General Genetics Lab

Various classical and molecular genetic techniques using various prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems such as bacteria, yeast, plants, and humans. The lab exercises will be largely inquiry based with a focus on experimental design. Laboratory projects include genetic crosses, analysis of the genotype/phenotype relationship, complementation, linkage mapping, and detection of DNA polymorphisms. Also, bioinformatics tools will be used to perform SNP analysis and analyze sequence similarity.

Project-based course in which students will work on a semester-long applied research project that analyzes various current systems in western Massachusetts (energy, transportation, agriculture), and identify practical solutions that move towards sustainability. Students identify unique research areas, develop methods and collect data, and analyze and present findings in a report. This course will satisfy the Integrative Experience requirement for BS-NRC and BS-EnvSci majors.
