ST: Ukrainian I
Ukrainian I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Ukrainian. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Ukrainian develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ukraine and to support course work in Eastern European Studies.
S-I Moroccan Arabic I
This course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Moroccan Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed two semesters of Modern Standard Arabic at the 100-level or the equivalent. This course is appropriate for students who have had at least one year of Modern Standard Arabic that included a significant speaking component in either MSA or a dialect.
Amharic I
Amharic I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Amharic. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Amharic develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Ethiopia and to support course work in African Studies.
S-I Iraqi Arabic II
Iraqi Arabic II is offered in a special independent study format through the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. The course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Iraqi Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Iraqi Arabic I or the equivalent. Students studying Iraqi Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Iraq and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies.
