ST- Dutch II

Dutch II is the second part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Dutch. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Dutch develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Netherlands and to support course work in European Studies.

Prerequisite: Dutch I or equivalent

ST-Moroccan II

This course develops speaking and listening skills in colloquial Moroccan Arabic. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions with a native speaker and a final evaluation by an outside evaluator. The focus is on practical everyday conversation and listening comprehension. Students studying Moroccan Arabic develop skills needed for study abroad in Morocco and to support course work in Middle Eastern and International Studies. In order to enroll in this course, students must have completed Moroccan I or the equivalent.

ST-Sinhala I

Sinhala I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Sinhala. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Thai develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Sri Lanka and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

ST-Haitian Creole IV

Haitian Creole IV is the fourth part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Haitian Creole. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Haitian Creole develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Haiti and to support course work in Caribbean and/or Francophone Studies.

ST-Czech VI

Czech VI is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Czech I-V or the equivalent. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Czech develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in the Czech Republic and to support course work in European Studies.

ST-Urdu VI

This course combines independent study with small group conversation sessions and one-on-one peer-tutoring. Students studying Urdu develop speaking, listening, and basic literacy skills needed for study abroad in Pakistan and to support course work in South Asian Studies.

ST-Modern Irish III

Modern Irish III is the third part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Modern Irish (also known as Irish Gaelic). The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Modern Irish develop speaking and listening skills useful for study abroad in Ireland and to support course work in Celtic Studies.

ST- Burmese VII

Burmese VII is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Burmese I-VI or the equivalent. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Burmese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Myanmar (Burma) and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.
