ST-Danish I

Danish I is the first part of a four-part elementary course sequence in Danish. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Danish develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Denmark and to support course work in European Studies.

ST-Burmese VI

Burmese VI is an intermediate-level course for students who have completed Burmese I-V or the equivalent. The course is offered through the Five College Supervised Independent Language Program. The independent study format includes small group conversation sessions and an evaluation by an outside evaluator. Students studying Burmese develop speaking and listening skills needed for study abroad in Myanmar (Burma) and to support course work in Southeast Asian Studies.

Honors Seminar 2: Topics

This seminar is a required course for Commonwealth Honors College students where students participate in a topical seminar-style course designed by its instructor. While the subject matter of each section is different, advanced knowledge of the topic is not required. While the subject matter of each section is different, the requirements for each section are the same.

INVERT PALEONT & HIST OF LIFE

A study of the major groups of fossil invertebrates including their phylogenetic relationships, paleoecology, and the importance of fossils in biostratigraphy. Special topics include speciation, functional adaptations, paleoenvironments, the origin of life, the record of mass extinctions and originations, and how life has changed through time. At least one weekend field trip. Prerequisite: 101 and 102, or 108, or FYS 103, or 102 with any other GEO 100 level course. 102 can be taken concurrently; open without prerequisite to majors in the biological sciences. Enrollment limited to 25 students.
